I got today my Nokia 6600 and tried the Gameloft games "Price of Persia" and "Spliter Cell". Both games are working on Nokia 3650, but not on Nokia 6600.
Bad, Nokia, bad!

Will it be possible to upgrade the 6600 firmware with possible bugfixes ? I guess, not?

Regards,

There are so many post that reports that there are many problem running games on 6600. I have a game and I really like to know if it's running well on 6600. Could you try it please?
My game is available at:
www.kisember.com/rescue/ksdbrescue.jar and
www.kisember.com/rescue/ksdbrescue.jad

Thanks

BTW: I installed your game via infrared on my 6600 and i can see the game-icon! if i do the same with gameloft games i get only the standard puzzle icon (which indicates that it's an application).

@kisember: Maybe you can tell us how your description file looks like or what could be the problem, why the game-icon in gameloft games isn't shown on nokia 6600.

There is nothing special in my .jad, here it is:
Code:
MIDlet-Name: 1912 rescue demo
MIDlet-Version: 1.0.6
MIDlet-Vendor: kisemberSoftware
MIDlet-Icon: /i.png
MIDlet-Jar-URL: http://www.kisember.com/rescue/ksdbrescue.jar
MIDlet-Jar-Size: 52596
MIDlet-Data-Size: 2048
MIDlet-1: 1912 rescue demo, /i.png , w
MIDlet-Description: Action Game
Nokia-MIDlet-Category: Game
I think gameloft forgot the leading slash or use icon without extension. The old S60 have a great bug, if you omit both the extension and slash, the JAM can no longer list installed midlets ;)
Maybe they change this behavior in Symbian 7.x

The previous post was my .jad, here is my manifest.mf
Code:
Manifest-Version: 1.0
MIDlet-Data-Size: 2048
MicroEdition-Configuration: CLDC-1.0
MIDlet-Name: 1912 rescue demo
Ant-Version: Apache Ant 1.5.3
Created-By: 1.4.1_01-b01 (Sun Microsystems Inc.)
MIDlet-Icon: /i.png
MIDlet-Vendor: kisemberSoftware
MIDlet-1: 1912 rescue demo, /i.png , w
MIDlet-Version: 1.0.6
MicroEdition-Profile: MIDP-1.0
MIDlet-Description: Action Game
The only relevant difference is that the icon is omited in MIDlet-1 attribute, but it could only affect when midlet is running, not wehen listing installed midlets.

Actually, I have never used the MIDlet-Icon attribute, instead I have always had the icon in the MIDlet-n attribute. And still, on all Nokia handsets I've tried the icon did appear on the MIDlet list, so I guess that Nokias behave differently that way.
