I've a requirement to allow a PC to recieve a business card sent from a mobile via bluetooth. Can anyone tell me what protocol is used to transfer the business cards between phones? Regards, Rich |

You're right, OPP is not a protocol, it is a profile. Here is some further information based on Bluetooth v1.1 Core and Profiles specifications.
In Bluetooth hierachy the Profile dpendance is as follows: OPP is dependent on GOEP (Generic Object Exchange Profile). GOEP is dependent on SPP (Serial Port Profile) From a protocol point-of-view OPP uses the following stack: OBEX - RFCOMM - L2CAP - LMP - BB, (and also SDP, of course) According to Bluetooth v1.1 Profiles specification: OPP as an application specific profile does not define any requirements for protocols. GOEP defines SPP Interoperability requirements (for RFCOMM protocol there are no changes compared to SPP). Bluetooth v1.1 Core specification: Part 'F:2 IrDA Interoperability' specifies how OBEX is mapped over RFCOMM. Seppo Forum Nokia |

Hmmm, interesting.
When I connect a PC to a phone via RFCOMM over bluetooth I need to accept the connection on the phone, and enter the pin if the phone has not registered with the pc already. However when I send a business card to another bluetooth phone via I don't need todo this. Is the phone still creating an RFCOMM connection between the phones or is it using another portocol to transfer the data? Thanks for your time on this, it's much appriciated. Regards, Rich |
