In this forum and in the FAQ (Bluetooth Technology section on www.forum.nokia.com) one can learn that the 7650 Bluetooth implementation supports the Serial Port Profile (SPP) layer.
But I have not found any references to SPP in the Symbian v6.1 documentation supplied with the SDK (Beta 0.3) (the Bluetooth section describes support up to the RFCOMM-layer). It seems to me that serial communication over Bluetooth is implemented in a module to the Serial Communications server, is this the SPP support referred to in this forum and in the FAQ ? Is it a valid SPP implementation ? Regards Niklas |

The Bluetooth profiles mentioned in the FAQ mainly refer to general features and the Nokia-made preinstalled applications of the phones. However, in case of the Nokia 7650 the third party applications on phone can use most of the profiles (Object Push, Serial Port, GAP, SDAP).
Applications using the Serial Communications server over RFCOMM should be compliant with the Serial Port Profile. We will publish some examples within a few weeks that enlighten the application development possibilities, protocols and corresponding profiles. Seppo Forum Nokia |
