What kind of certificate exactly do you need to code sign a MIDP 2.0 application ?
Will an ordinary thawte ssl certificate do it ? Does the jar have to be downloaded from the certificates domain ? Do all MIDP 2.0 phones have the appropriate thawte root ? The documentation isn't entirely clear (to me anyway). |

You should use a code signing cert for this purpose. However, I've not been able to get a MIDlet signed with a Thawte Code Signing Cert to work on the Nokia 6600. The MIDlet works correctly when using OTA in the WTK emulator.
SSL certs are for websites, they should not be used for code signing, so this should not work. The jar can be downloaded from any place on the internet. Which root certificates a device contains is up to the manufacturer of the device, so there is no guarantee the Thawte root will be on all devices. Regards. Jac |
