I'm developing a J2ME game to the Nokia 5100.
I was wondering what is the normal size limit of splash screen?
Is there any guidelines like from 10 KB to 50 KB?

Nope, as long as you make sure it fits on the screen and doesnt push the JAR size over it's maximum size for a particular phone it's okay. 50kb does seem a bit big though, considering it has to be downloaded over GPRS or something, and it's a waste of bandwidth if a big chunk of your application is a non-functional image.

The JAR size is 64 KB in the Nokia 5100 and at the moment my projects size is 48 KB.

That means that the size of splash screen must be about 10 KB? Correct?

Hi,

See if you want to have big splash screen then you can compress the other images & your code.There are techniques to do that.
I havent tried as it was not required, but you can compress your image's size not loosing the clarity & same applies to code also.
So, automatically your JAR size will get reduced. So, naturally you can afford to have bigger splash screen.
