Hello,

I'm developing a small game, and I need to play a midi file on MIDP 1.0. How can I code for playing a midi file? I looked at the Nokia UI API, but I have no idea.

Please help me.

The Nokia UI has no way of playing midi directly.
You can convert a monophonic midi file (or one channel of a poliphonic one), into the a format you can play using the Audio Converter that comes with the Nokia Development Suite.

To play midi you need to have a phone that support MMAPI (like the 3300). Then you can use it (that's the javax.microedition.media.* classes) to play midi files.

Is the format differnt at each machine?

It's the same format on all of them. You need to download the Nokia Developer's Suite. It has a tool called the Audio Converter that can load a midi file, and convert one of it's channels to this format (I think they call it ott, or ota). You can export it as a String of as a byte array.

As far as code, searching the forum is all you need to do for that.
