The Bluetooth FAQ (http://www.forum.nokia.com/main/1,65..._50_10,00.html) states that to use the Emulator and Bluetooth you need

"Bluetooth unit (either a Nokia Connectivity Card DTL-4 or a Socket Bluetooth CF card [older, F version] with a PC card adapter) to be used with the Series 60 emulator"

However, I've read that the DTL-4 card is no longer commercially available, and the CF card (version F) is almost impossible to find, as version G is most commonly available.

What are people doing to develop Symbian/Bluetooth apps via the Emulator? Does anyone have a source (preferably USA) for Symbian-Emulator-compatible Bluetooth hardware?

And finally, does anyone have a good technical understanding why the hardware requirement is so specific? I don't see any obstacles to using any Bluetooth compliant device....

I have the same question! How are we meant to test these applications without having to buy two devices. I want to use one device talking to my emulator (dev kit).

I have searched for the card thats I HAVE TO USE but I cant find it anywhere!

I do have a bluetooth USB dongle.

Thanks

With the new Series 60 SDK v2.0 & v2.1Beta, and Series 90 SDK v1.0 Beta, you can use Bluetooth devices compatible with H4 UART or BCSP HCI interfaces. The device also must not contain any host software and has to support installation as a COM port. The Bluetooth device has to support 115.2kbps baud rate used by the emulator.

H4/BCSP compatible PC Cards and Serial (RS-232) devices fulfilling the requirements above can be used.

A hint: Bluetooth products based on CSR BlueCore support either H4 or BCSP.

Socket 'G' card does not support 115.2kbps baud rate and therefore cannot currently be installed.
