Hi!
Try the following that i found on the net... It works on my 6310i V4.07 Look on my ### remarks as well... /Uffe Eureka: it works (ok, partially, but I guess I have to explore more...) 1. go to the "prefs" application 2. select the connection menu (the tab on right upper corner) 3. create a new entry called, for ex. BlMdmNok6310 with the following parameters ### I called my profile BT6310i ### - connect to : Modem (yes modem!) - Via : Bluetooth 4. Activate the bluetooth mode on your phone: (I suppose you already gave a name to your phone in the parameters of the bluetooth section) 5. On your palm again: tap on the "device: "tap to find" >> you should see the name you gave to your phone in step 4 6. Tap on the name of your phone, and accept it to the list of the trusted devices !!! lok at your phone; it should ask for an acceptation of the bluetooth connection #### Did not show anything on my 6310i #### #### Keep on as the question showed up however... ### 7. Enter a passkey but remebre it because you will need it 1 time later 8. Even if it worked, check the "details" on the bottom of the palm screen and adjust the init string of the modem with the following: AT&F (thanks to the Nokia Careline, after 3 calls...). The control flux (in french...) should be automatic, and I tried to upper the speed until 115200 and it worked. 9. On your phone, ask, in the bluetooth section, to see the binded devices. You should see your plam and take the occasion to make it trusted by you phone by entering the key mentioned in step 6, and setting it to no more ask for an authorisation from your own palm to be accepted (>>automatic connection). I hope it works with you all too.... but it is not finished 10. On your palm, on the prefs application, select the Network tab, complete the "service" with a name for your connectionto your provider, enter your username as it appears in your standard connection, your password if you would like, and on connection, choose the connection name you created on step 3, and enter the phone number of your provider, and try..... I got the auto bluetooth conn. with my 6310, and I was asked for my password as I used ti enter it on my pc every time I connect to the Internet. And thats all.......! ### The 6310i did no show any connection query on the initial BT search. ### ### But when connecting the first time it showed the question ### Note that: 1. Even connected, I hadnt time enough to explore how to retrieve my mails (I guess I have to look to install some application to my palm) 2. The above installation does no work while trying to connect DIRECTLY to the phone, for example to send SMS msg, ... I am still searching. Hoping that this will help someS. Good luck an please inform about success Regards to all |

I think I have finally cracked it! In the hope that someone else in
the same situation does not have to spend ages searching for the answers, here is the procedure I used to get the bluetooth connection between m505 and Nokia 6310 working properly: First stage is to set up for pairing. The secret here is to force the Nokia 6310 to accept the Palm for pairing and enter the passkey on the phone first. This is not what the instructions with the Palm SDIO card describe but it certainly worked with my early generation Nokia 6310 (software: v 04.10). On Nokia 6310 Bluetooth = off Search for audio accessries = don't bother! View active device = none! View paired devices = none! Bluetooth settings - My phone's visibility = Shown to all Bluetooth settings - name of phone = e.g. Nokia GC (anything you want - I just used my initials to identify this as my phone) Switch phone off Switch phone on (this should reset the phone) Select Bluetooth = on On Palm M505 Place the SDIO Bluetooth Card into Palm Install BT drivers (if you have not already done so) Go to Preferences - Bluetooth Bluetooth = on Device name = Palm GC (again anything you want to call your device) Allow Device to be discovered = yes Goto preferences - Connection New Name = e.g. BT to Nokia 6310 Connect to = Phone Via = Bluetooth Model = Standard GSM Device = tap to find When found select 'Nokia GC' Do you want to add Nokia GC to your trusted device list = no OK Goto preferences - Phone Connection = BT to Nokia 6310 Test You have to be quite fast now to enter the passkeys otherwise you have to start the procedure again! On Nokia 6310 When Phone reacts accept the connection! Enter the passkey = e.g. 0123 (any number you want but do remember it!) Select On Palm M505 When Palm reacts enter the passkey = 0123 (same number as above) Add connection to the trusted devices list OK Goto Preferences - Bluetooth tap Trusted Devices (you should see 'Nokia GC' at the top of the list - check Details if you want) On Nokia 6310 Check the menu of Bluetooth View paired devices = Palm GC The devices are now paired and you will not have to enter the passkey again when they connect. OK so far so good but there is still another step if you want to be able to connect to Internet or e-mail. It does seem that the Palm driver supplied has to be overidden as below On Palm m505 Goto Preferences - Connection Select the 'BT to Nokia 6310' tap Edit Change Connect to : from Phone to Modem (yes Modem!) Via : Bluetooth Device: Nokia GC (should still be shown) Dialing: Touch Tone (default setting) Volume: Low (default setting) tap Details Change Init String to ATZ (you may find a very long string here but I guess this comes from the Palm driver settings) tap OK tap OK Goto Preferences - Network the only change to an existing profile is to change Connection to 'BT to 6310' (I used the remaining settings as per previous successful IR connection - you can also enter or edit your ISP details here) Now you should be ready to try to connect to your ISP Select your e-mail or Internet application and connect Palm shows 'Initializing..' Phone shows 'Connect with Palm GC?' - press Accept You should now have a working bluetooth connection - Depending on the application the setting for e-mail should be to disconnect after send/check. You can also disconnect by ending call on the phone keypad but for me this still does not always end the bluetooth connection. A slightly drastic way which does work is to eject the bluetooth SDIO card! Other Connection - Details settings I have tried is the Speed, this seems to work OK at 115,200 with no problem. That is about it for now. Most of the above comes from a compilation of postings I have found on various sites in the past few days. I hope it helps anyone else who has had the same frustration as me getting this technology working. Have fun!!! Graham C |

Thanks a lot, works perfect. I have even managed to connect through GPRS and retrieve my mails.
Modem string ATZ was important to make it work for me. Good luck everyone. |
