At JavaOne and the Borland Developer Conference, Nokia showed the 9290. But as I read through the specs for it, I didn't see anything about Java on the phone at all. I see there's a 9200 Series SDK, but it only mentions the 9210, not the 9290. So now, I'm confused.
Is Java supported on the 9290, either out of the box or as an add-on? If so, what edition of Java is supported; i.e. J2ME/MIDP or PersonalJava? If not, when will it be? |

Hello,
Nokia Communicator 9290 was released later than the Nokia Communicator 9210. That's probably why it's not mentioned in the literature for 9210. They are in effect the same systems, which means that programs developed for 9210 will run on 9290 and vice versa. Nokia Communicator 9290 supports Personal Java "out of the box" like 9210 does. You can download MIDP environment from Forum Nokia Tools & SDKs section (look for "MIDP Software for Nokia 9210 Communicator"). It's a Symbian OS application (.sis). Regards, Petteri / Forum Nokia |
