In playing short WAV sounds (one second, 22 kHz,
8-bit PCM) on the Nokia 6600 (firmware v4.09.1), I find that sound gets truncated such that the last 0.2 second or so is missing/inaudible. Is this a known problem? Is there a fix? I do not find the problem on any emulator, and the problem also seems not to occur with longer (two second) sounds. Is there a workaround? I do not want to add a dummy silent sound slice. Thanks, Peter Meijer http://www.seeingwithsound.com/midlet.htm |

For a possible workaround, see
http://discussion.forum.nokia.com/fo...threadid=41014 Somehow the sample rate seems critical on the Nokia 6600. |

Hi
I have written a document that explains audio issues on mobile devices. Check it out: www.jcodeworks.com |

Cannot find it, please give a specific URL, or else your message looks like a generic advertisement. |

OK thanks, that is a good page, indeed mentioning some related problems with short sounds (on the Nokia 7650, apparently, using the Nokia sound APIs). BTW, I do not use com.nokia.mid.sound.* or any other Nokia specific APIs, and use code similar to what you have in the section on "Nokia 3650, 6600 and N-Gage". |

Does anyone know if the newer Nokia 6600 firmware version 5.27.0 fixes the sound cutoff problems of version 4.09.1?
I never managed to find a good reliable workaround with v4.09.1, and it is highly annoying in trying to use sampled speech. Peter Meijer http://www.seeingwithsound.com/midlet.htm |
