Hello,

I need your experiences with realtime image processing, as I am no java programmer.
My scenario looks like this:
I need to capture 25 Frames per second from the camera, with a resolution of at least 320x280 pixel. This happens in one thread, as the framerate has to be constant with no more than 2 frames more or less.
A second thread would work with the collected pictures, assuming that for each captured frame 4 images of the same size would need to be compared and the result is stored somewhere.
The images would be bitmaps with 8 Bit resolution / grayscale.

I know for example that on a Orange SPV(Smartphone) this application written in C++ is fast enough for the processing, but I would like to port it to java and all nokia devices that are strong enough.

So here are the questions:
Does anyone know if this can be archived with java on nokia phones?
Which devices would have enough power to do this in realtime?
Can java run multiple threads?

Please tell me your experiences so I can consider if I will make this project or if it can't be done at all.
