Hi,
I just installed the NCF 1.2 update, because I am looking for BT simulation in the emulator. Now, when I try to start the emulator, I am requested to install the NCF BT USB driver gain and again in an endless loop. The log reports the following: "Nokia Series 40 MIDP20 SDK 1.0 is configured to use system resources that are not available or are reserved for some other application. To change BT settings of the product, open product properties and modify communication settings in the Technology tab. Exact error message received: Old version of NCF BT USB Driver installed." Any suggestions? |

Could it be that you have accidentally configured S40 to use BT USD driver
for the communication? If you right click the device in the tree and select product properties and technology tab what kind of settings do you have there for the S40? I have following settings which works ok. - Bluetooth/P2P Library/HCI UART Transport Layer (h4) - MMS/P2P Library/MMS Encryption - SMS/P2P Library/NCF SMS Standard If you really want to use the BT USB driver then you would need to have BT dongle connected to your computers BT USB driver and drag a tool called BT USB Dongle to the environment. (You can add it to NCF product tree by selecting menu item Tools/Add product integration ...) |

Yes, I am using the BT USB Adapter, I have installed the BT USB Driver and I have plugged a bluetooth dongle to the computer.
In the meantime I uninstalled the Widcomm software and reinstalled the BT USB Driver only. No error messages appear since then, but bluetooth does not work either. In the Win2000 device manager I see the Nokia NCF BT USB Driver installed without any errors. I drag the BT USB Adapter and the S40 DP20 SDK, Nokia 6255 Edition 1.0 into the Messaging pane of the NCF, no errors are logged. The BT USB Adapter's Bluetooth setting is BTUSB, HCI UART Transport Layer (H4), and the S40 has P2P Library with the same HCI setting. When I start the environment after adding a test application, the log writes that both components are started, but no bluetooth specific logs appear. The s40 SDK starts the test application, which throws a BluetoothStateException. In the emulator's Bluetooth menu I see Bluetooth is off. Any idea? |

If the NCF Bluetooth driver does not install nicely, try the following:
MANUAL INSTALLATION OF THE NCF BT USB DRIVER E.g., with Widcomm-based Bluetooth USB solutions, the original driver finds the dongle when reinserting it and thus the installation of the NCF BT USB driver does not work. In this case you have to update the driver manually in Device Manager. 1. Go to Settings | Control Panel | System | Hardware | Device Manager 2. Expand Bluetooth Devices and select the device, click with the second mouse button, and select Properties. 3. Go to Driver tab and select Update Driver. 4. Choose Display a list of the known drivers for this device so that I can choose a specific driver and click Next. 5. Click Next twice. 6. Installation should now be completed. The view in the Device Manager has now changed: the current Bluetooth driver (Nokia NCF BT USB Driver) can be found under Universal Serial Bus controllers. The original Bluetooth Device driver cannot be found. When removing and reinserting the dongle, the original driver is installed again. Seppo Forum Nokia |
