Sound problems on the 6600? -

I am stumped and stymied. I have a very simple midlet which is supposed to play a sound. The sound is stored as a WAV file inside the midlet jar. It plays fine in the WTK emulator but no sound comes out when I play this on a 6600. This may be a FAQ but I can't find any answers in my Googling. Does anyone have any ideas on this?

Ok, I saw another answer: it can only play MP3, AAC or AMR clips. Is there any way to get around this restriction? Can it be that no games or other apps want to use synthetic audio? I know that for most of what games do, MIDI is the best thing but no one ever has a need to use synthetic audio in plain old WAV format?
