How can screen capture be implemented? -

From my research, it seems like screen capture can not be implemented in regular MIDP. It seems like you would need some extension library, for instance Nokias, to make it work. There is no way to create files in MIDP, or is there?
One of my customer suggests that screen capture can be implemented by writing to a buffer, or even use the double buffer used in drawing to the screen. Is this possible?
