I am making animated wallpapers and screensavers for one of my customers. I know how to do animated wallpapers, but I have never made screensavers for mobiles before. Is it the same process to make a gif-screensavers as making an animated gif-wallpaper? I have specifications for the dimension, the filesize and the maximum number of frames. What more should I think about when making a screensaver?

It would depend on the phone. Some phones might use animated GIF files as screensavers and/or wallpapers.
Other phones might not support either. Some phones might require that the screensaver is not an image (animated or otherwise), but an actual software application (i.e., it has to be written in some programming language in a certain way and then compiled to an executable file). |

My customer MediaPlazza want gif screensavers, and I don't have to worry about which phones that support them. I have made animated wallpaper according to their specifications. The specifications are for the dimension and the filesize.
These are about the same for the animated wallpapers and the screensavers, with some small differences. So can I use the same gif-animations that I have made for the animated wallpapers for the screensavers, if I just remake them with the right dimension and filesize? It just seems too simple, don't I have to do something more with gif-animations to make them work as screensavers? Quote:

As I said, whether you need to do more than an animated GIF depends entirely on what phone model is in question.
Some phone models may simply support any (or specific size/resolution) animated GIF's as screensaver without anything special. Other phone models may require that the screensaver is an actual software application (that may or may not make use of an animated GIF depending on the phone). And there are also phone models that do not support any kind of additional scrensavers at all besides what they have built-in (if they have any even built-in). There is no single solution that works for all different phones (not even a single solution for a single phone manufacturer's models, because they can have so many, with very different functions, including different mechanisms for screensavers). It (to simplfy things a bit) is the same as with a screensaver for a PC with Microsoft Windows; a screensaver that works on Windows will not work on a Macintosh, or a computer running Linux. In any case, if this MediaPlazza just wants animated GIFs, then deliver them animated GIFs according to their specifications, and let them worry how they turn them to screensavers or whatever. But, if they ask you to specifically provide screensavers, then you have to know what phone models they are for, and whether animated GIFs are enough for those phones, or whether they need something else (or have any custom screensavers support in the first place),.

Thanks, I think I have understood the situation now. They only want gif-animations, so I will deliver that according to their specifications.
