We are using the MMConverter to create talking heads where we merge a sound stream and a sequence of frames we create our selves (http://www.inovani.com). We produce various video formats. To create H.263 we create AVI and then use the MMConverter.
Most AVI files are converted without error. However, on some occations the MMConverter crash *OR* report : Error: Cannot allocate memory. Please exit other applications and try again. I have gotten this message correctly when several MMConverters are run in parallell, but on these error-occations it is running alone. We have tested this extensively, varying frame rate and other parameters, and get consistent errors for the problematic AVI files. These AVI files play without error in all videoplayers we have on our computers. They also open and play in the MMConverter, but give crash/error message when converting. On close inspection of AVI files, we suspect that we get trouble when the sound track and picture/frame track in the AVI diverge "too much" in length. We have tried to detect what this "too much" is with extensive tests and carefull reading of documentation - with no luck in finding out what "too much" is... and it seems to vary some but is in the order of magnitude of less than a frame. Has anyone any knowledge about this or had similar experience ? or know where to get more info about the MMConverter? or know of any other solution we could try ? |

I have the same problem, with converting a Microsoft AVI made with moviemaker. It is a 5 minutes video, which plays (View)correctly in the Nokia Miltimedia converter 2.0 . When I convert to QCIF the converter encodes the video part without trouble, but in the last part ( the first 93 percent of the Audio encoding without trouble but during encing the last 7 percent )of encoding the Audio part it crashes with the error (Unsopported or corrupted file). Can any one help ?

i have had the same problems.
Solved it this way. get STOIK video converter that converts nicely larger movies. Use "avi for PC small(160 120,15fps cinepack)" as format the problem with the nmmc is that it just doesent like everything that gets put into it ![]() plz respond if you manage to get it to work just by using the correct size (176X144) 15fps and cinepack codek.. Would be interesting to know. |
