Anybody, please tell me how to download an application program and run it on the phone!!!
I'm new to J2ME. I wrote a simple program and ran it on the simulator on PC and it worked fine. However, when I downloaded its jar & jad files on the phone(using bluetooth), I couldn't save them under applications. ^^;; Bluetooth File Transfer Wizard on PC says that "the files were successfully sent" but I couldn't install those under applications. I could install them under different folder, but when I opened it, it says "file format not supported". ^^;; Please anybody help me to install and run an application program on the phone. By the way, I'm using Nokia Series 40 (6230). Thank you. |

Hi halofolks,
Have you tried to use Nokia PC Suite in order to install applications? Br, Juarez Alvares Barbosa Junior - Brazil |

Ok, so the original question is more than two years old.
The answer is (if the person asking is anymore interested), that older Series 40 phones (like 6230) allow OTA MIDlet installation only. You cannot install the MIDlets over bluetooth on those old devices. Hartti |

Hi Hartti,
Yes, you are right, I hadn't noticed that. Sometimes I am trying to help here when I have some free time, e.g, when connected at airports, sometimes I am distracted :) Ha, ha, ha, let me try to pay more attention! Br, Juarez Alvares Barbosa Junior - Brazil

Hi Hartti,
You mention that installation of a MIDLEt in Series 40 phone is only over the air but to my post about application installation you have mention that it is possible to install over cable, IR and bluetooth, I am confused, can you please point me to the documentation for installing MIDlets on Series 40 devices THe post that I am mentioning was made on 2007-09-24 with the heading as "Application installation on Devices" |

In my post above I mention that on some old Series 40 phones the OTA installation is the only installation method. In general you can use also other methods I am listing in the other reply.
