Ok, I'm just getting my head around developing on these phones.
I use python a lot in other contexts, and would love to use it on the phone. but, Ive a 9500 communicator, series 80. Will this run the python implementation here? Is series 80 backwards compatable with 60 etc..? does it work like that, or am I barking up the wrong tree? |

No, the Series 60 Python implementation will not work on a Series 80 phone.
There is no backwards compatibility in either direction, because Series 80 is not newer than Series 60 (or vice versa). They're more entirely separate application frameworks, middleware and application suites, both based on Symbian. |

Exactly. S60 and S80 are completely different systems. The "Python for Symbian" part contained in the embedded SIS package _could_ work on Series 80, but I don't know if anyone has tried it. Of course, the interesting parts (UI, camera, graphics...) won't work without extensive rewriting.
