We are VoIP company based in Latvia specialising in multimedia streaming over SIP/RTP protocols. This year we optimised our SIP stack for Symbian OS and it is already implemented in two of our products. One of them is push-to-talk application. Now we have decided to advance this product.
The last two months we have been looking for information on how to enable duplex audio on NOKIA 6630 and 6680 mobile phone models so that audio playback would work along audio recording simultaneously. Sadly, this feature is not documented but we know that these cellphone models are capable of concurrent audio in/out. Here at TiVi (Latvian acronym for Tilts Visiem) we have made numerous attempts to contact NOKIA, but so far unsuccessfully. We would like to know your opinion or any references. Is it worth to join Forum NOKIA Pro? Although it costs 4K EUR, we are considering this option if we can get detailed documentation or support. |

My username is email. Yesterday we found nonstandart solution to this problem, but the question still remains open - we would like to see a documented way of doing it.

i'm having the same problem with the 6630 as well (got sound interjection working on the my 6600), would you be willing to share your workaround on the 6630/6680?

How did you get the sound injection to work ? Can you send in some tips for that. I have to play/inject sound file in the voice channel through the application, so that the caller can listen to the voice.

I am sorry to answer to both requests about duplex functionality - a decision has been made within our team no to disclose this information. If NOKIA itself doesn't want/cannot release official documentation we start to look at this as an oportunity. Shortterm, though.
For anyone interested just to have a working sample of duplex SIP client on Symbian, please go to www.sillyant.com. That is our experimental site and on Sep. 25 we plan to release a freeware version of the phone. |

they are recording in chunks and then transmitting. its not real duplex. i find
it very anoying when a companys comes here and trys to show off. this forum is about sharing knowledge. we all no the phones players need a compleated audio packet for playback. so all you can do is have 2 players load chunks (buffering)... problem is there will be a gap in the sound playback as player one switchs to player two. one day we may get streaming playback on the phone- but for now we havent. |
