trouble with audio files -

I am a new user and fairly ignorant. I am trying to listen to audio files sent from my computer to my 6630. The files show up in my inbox okay. But when I try to open them one of two things happens: 1. The file will not open and I get the message "unknown file format" or 2. The file opens and says that a connection to the server is needed. When I say yes it says "unable to connect to the server."
Any ideas? Thanks. Ronny
