J2ME getSnapshot() BRIGHTNESS ADJUST -

Hello,
I am using vc.getSnapshot to capture images from Nokia 6682. Is it possible in J2ME to adjust the brightness setting of the imager? Note: some of you may be tempted to suggest modifying the byte data after receipt from the camera. This is unfortunately unacceptable as a huge degradation of dynamic range and a processing hog. Is it possible to use the current camera settings for brightness, contrast, etc. from the default Camera application's previous usage?
