Hi is it possible to detect the above please with pys60, through RSSI or the like. I am not too concerned about possible fluctuations in the strength as I will be averaging the results.
Thanks in advance |

Hello "oscarsheepydog",
I am also very interested about working with the Bluetooth signal strength (RSSI). Did you manage to find out any way of accessing these parameters? If so, could you please help me? Thanks! Luis |

Hi everybody!
I am interested too!!!! ![]() If you find any way to access the RSSI please post something! Thanks Galaktico |

No support yet. Implementable as an extension.

Hello "jplauril",
Well, if it is implementable as an extension, that's good news for us! Thank you for giving us hope. Could you please then let us know how we could implement it? Any indications about the way to follow? Would it be possible to achieve it in Java, or do we need to go down to Symbian? If so, that's OK, we can do it in Symbian using C++ programming. What Symbian libraries should we use? If there are no libraries at all that can help, what other means can we pursue? Again, thank you for answering and providing hope! Luis |

I'm not familiar with Java Bluetooth APIs.
If you want it to work with Python you would need to write an extension module with Symbian C++. |

Jplauril, thanks for anwering.
It is ok for us to develop an extension module with Symbian C++. Then we will use the extension in our own C++ programs. But do you know how to do it? I haven't found any APIs or objects related to Bluetooth that handle the RSSI. We don't know where to start. Do you know of any classes, methods, APIs, etc. that we can use? Or perhaps any sources of information? Luis |

Actually, I don't know how to do it without digging deep into the API reference guides, and that can be very time consuming. You could try asking in one of the S60 C++ discussion boards here.
