Hi --

Is there some way to change the bit rate using the 'audio.Sound' class for recording?

so = audio.Sound.open(u'd:\\sample.wav')
so.record()

The emulator defaults to 16 bit audio at 8kHz. I want to set it to 8 bit at 44kHz, for example.

Not currently. This should be relatively easy to add though, see e.g. the SDK documentation for "CMdaAudioRecorderUtility::SetDestinationBitRateL()". A simple modification to the available C++ source code should be enough.
