Hello All,
I am new to Symbian devlopment and I am attempting to build one of the sample projects from the Developing Series 60 Applications book, BluetoothChat, but it will not compile. It appears the btmanclient library does not match the btmanclient.h file. But I could be wrong... The project file BluetoothServer.h references a class RBTSecuritySettings which is (supposed to be) in the btmanclient library but the compiler said it was undefined. When I looked in the btmanclient.h file, I saw a very similar class RBTSecuritySettingsB defined which did everything RBTSecuritySettings did. So I changed the reference in BluetoothServer.h (a project file) to reference the class I did find. When I attempt to compile, it still tells me it is undefined. There are other classes, etc. in the btmanclient library that are being used and they are compiling so the library is definately being found and referenced. I did notice the comments for the class RBTSecurityServicesB said it was "deprecated" so if I understand correctly, that means it may not be supported. Therefore, I suspect the library I loaded with my SDK does not support that class even though it is in the source files... I am using the CodeWarrior IDE with the Series 60 2nd edition SDK with FP2. I am developing for the Nokia 6680 and 6630 phones right now but want to port it to any series 60 phone. I am currently compiling for ARMI and testing on my phones but it would not compile for any of the other options either including all debug/emulator modes. So I have a few questions: 1) How can I re-build a library? I thought I could rebuild the btmanclient library from the header file I have and it would then include the class I need. I could not find any reference to how to do that in the CodeWarrior help or the book I am using. 2) Is there a tool to show what is in the libraries as they exist in my development environment? I know CLIndex works for the MS Visual C++ environment but I am using Code Warrior. 3) How am I supposed to define the BT security settings without this class? Clearly, these settings (Authentication, Authorization) are still in use so I suspect there is a replacement for this class if it is no longer going to be used. 4) What is the best way to keep informed about classes, APIs, etc. that are being deprecated or outdated? I would prefer to not use anything that is deprecated. Thank you in advance for your time and assistance JerseyBob |

Hi,
I have not tried porting the BTChat yet, I recently wrote a thread about porting bluetooth to S60 2nd Ed Fp3 with Carbide Express and BlueTooth PointToPoint. This port required rewriting security for S60. Whilst this is not exactly what you want. I will give an idea on how to do debug of blue tooth application. http://discussion.forum.nokia.com/fo...ighlight=debug Good Luck Jim |
