Ok, I have a nokia connection card updated by socket. I have installed the latest version of the drivers. Network neighbourhood allows me to connect to my 6210 phone via Dun and Fax.
I have installed Nokia PC Suite 4.81. When I select Nokia PC Sync I get an error message saying "Your phone is not conncected, please connect your phone and try again". Also, when in Bluetooth Neighbourhood when I drag the serial port icon onto the 6210 connection I get 'Preparing serial port link to 6210' then an error message saying "No serial port on 6210". |
|
Is that happen as well with the Pc-Suite 4.06 which was released for the 6210?

I gave up trying to get the 4.06 version of the suite to work. When trying to install it the software never detected the bluetooth connection.
I am having no problems using either DUN or Fax in Network Neibourhood. Its just that the serial connections do not work, neither does any of the utility programs such as Nokia PC Sync. PC Sync is the important one to get working as I wish to develop an application in Outlook that allows me to send stuff to the phone. Without getting PC Sync working I have no proof of concept that this is possible. |

Nokia PC Suite 4.81 is targeted for newer phones, such as Nokia 6310i.
Try to make the connection from Connection Manager (a phone icon in the taskbar). First select the blue Bluetooth icon. After appr. 10 seconds you get a list of devices in the range. Connect to your phone by double-clicking its icon. -Seppo Forum Nokia |

Ok - let's see:
-6210 is supported until PC-Suite 4.52 (8910 Suite) -you should set the Connection Manager to Bluetooth connection -set up a DUN link to the phone (COM port profile does not exist) -Connection Manager should detect now the 6210 -start e.g. the Phone editor -you should able to work How about your results? |

Nope, can't get that to work either. Here is what I did.
From a fresh OS install, I installed the socket drivers, then inserted the CF card into my laptop. I then ran Bluetooth Neighbourhood and dropped the dun icon onto the 6210 connection. This connected my phone as a slave device. I then disconnected and closed this application (So I know that part works). I then tried to Install PC Suite 4.52. It comes up with a window that says - trying to find COM port phone is connected to. It failed to detect the bluetooth phone, so I chose the skip menu option. And also skipped the IR option as well. When it was installed I rebooted my system. I then double clicked on the Nokia Connection Manager in the system tray. I select the Bluetooth connection and in the phone window it says - no phone conncted. This is what I get with every version of the software I have tried 4.05, 4.06, 4.81 and now 4.52. I am able to get the bluetooth neighborhood software to work every time. I have never gotten any of the connection manager versions to detect the phone.. Its the latter I require to get working. I am running windows 2000 service pack 3, on a Dell Inspiron 7500 using the Nokia Connectivity pack upgraded to vers 1.1 by socket. Before I did the socket upgrade on the CF card, I was never able to get any of the software working. |

I then disconnected and closed this application (So I know that part works).
>> Have you connected again during the installation (so that the PC-Suite could find the COM port? There should be tip that you should connect your 6210 via DUN) I then tried to Install PC Suite 4.52. It comes up with a window that says - trying to find COM port phone is connected to. >> Because you had no active COM port to you 6210 |

My problem is that the 6210 + battery pack, PC-Suite 4.52, Win98 with original DTL-4 is working according to the previous hints. I've never tested a Socketcom card together with a 6210. So I can't tell you that this solution will work.

I finally got the dang thing working.
There are two problems. First one is that the Nokia software does not clean up the registry when it un-installs. You need to do this manually if you are going to re-install software. Here is the process you *must* follow to get it all up and running - I am using the Socket Upgrade version of the PCMCIA card v1.09S. From a fresh install Install Socket software from CD. Reboot machine Insert PCMCIA Card into machine - wait 30secs to 1 min for it to register. Run bluetooth neighbourhood Do a device discovery to detect the phone. Double click on the 6210 connection that comes up Enter passkey Double click on DUN connection on the right side panel (do *not* drag and drop as the instructions suggest). This will create a DUN connection to the phone (it may come up with the dialer - close this, but leave the connection live). Install PC Suite 4.06 choose bluetooth connection only. It should take no more than 2 secs to detect the phone Reboot when asked. Run bluetooth neighbourhood and double click on the phone device (6210 phone) Double click on the DUN icon in the right hand side as before Double click on the connection manager icon in the system tray Double click on the bluetooth connection to make sure it has the green checkbox next to it. Wait about 30 secs and the 6210 phone should appear in the lower panel. You may then use phone editor and pc sync etc. When using these tools you must make a connection in bluetooth neighbourhood as described above. Dragging and dropping the DUN connection as suggested in the manuals does not work even if it appears to. This was done on Windows 2000, SP3, Active Sync 3.5 and Microsoft .Net enterprise edition installed.. PC Suite 4.52 will not work with the 6210. PC Suite 4.81 needs to have the connection manager set to com 7. Only the pic editor and sound editor will work, phone editor will not. Also connection manager will hang fairly often so not worth the hassle. |
