Hello everyone.
Is there any way to turn on light on Midp 2.0 ?
It was working perfect with my 6610 nokia no i have 6670 and seems to not work at all.
I readed somewhere that backlight should be set every 15 seconds so i added timer, but still nothing. Can't find any bug report for this.
In depreciated list there is similar function com.nokia.mid.ui.DeviceControl.flashLights but nothing about setlight..

Any ideas how to keep light on, or even better how to select brightness ?
Regards

Hi,

6610 nokia is a series 40 phone and so com.nokia.mid.ui.DeviceControl.flashLights should work. Whereas AFAIK this is not present in the 60 series phones. 6670 is a 60 series phone and so it won't work.

Have to tried the default javax display backlight in midp2.0.
javax.microedition.lcdui.Display.flashBacklight(int duration). please read the midp2.0 api specs for more details

regards,
Wang

Hi Wang,

Nokia 6670 does have Nokia UI API, so com.nokia.mid.ui.DeviceControl.flashLights should work as javax.microedition.lcdui.Display.flashBacklight(int duration), but light behavior is somewhat inconsistent, AFAIK.

See the 6670 specs - http://www.forum.nokia.com/main/0,,0...tml?model=6670

Exacly, there is no word in documentation that this isn't working.
But it simply ignored, i wrote program that allows to read text documents packed in jar, and it was working perfect with 6610, but now, it's no use, after few seconds light is dimishing, have press a key to make it back, unusable during night...flashing ligts is too dangerous to eyes.

It has never worked on S60, and it has not been fixed for the latest 3rd edition devices, even though it would have been trivial. I assume this is because they are depreciating these extensions. So the real fault is with J2ME, which has no provision for this basic functionality. Yet we're drowned in a steady stream of JSR's addressing coolness at the expense of solid base level support.
