Hi all,
A new OS has been in the market named Savage.it is heard that LG will recommend this OS for all its future phones. The advantage of this OS is that both CDC and CLDC applications can be developed on these phones.

thanks

Hello there,

In fact, there's a new device shipping (Jasper S20) that was announced at JavaOne and it uses SavaJe as well as implements the JSR 209 - Advanced Graphics and User Interface Optional Package for the J2ME Platform.

Take a look:

http://www.nljug.org/pages/events/co...06/news/00006/

http://www.savaje.com/

http://news.softpedia.com/news/Jaspe...ne-23841.shtml

BTW, what do you all think about that all? It seems that in CDC we'll have AWT, eSWT and Swing Subset. I'm afraid of fragmentation as we see in Java Desktop...

Juarez Junior

Hi Soku,

Nokia is happy with their current Symbian OS. It is a stable one(although there is small disprency here & there).
Let us wait till the savage come to full fledge. since it is in the initial phase we can't predict whether it will be a booster. but a new OS is always a new thing

Hi folks,

My question remains unanswered.

"It seems that in CDC we'll have AWT, eSWT and Swing (JSR-209) Subset. I'm afraid of fragmentation as we see in Java Desktop..."

Is it good for JME? Let's debate, shall we?

BR,

Juarez Junior

Guys,

I'm sure you are not serious! I mean come on! doesn't all the J stuff claim to be *khik* platform independent? I mean why would you care about a particular OS? Shouldn't it run on... err.. any platform supporting the *so called* standards?

Hi tanzimhusain,

I think you missed the point :)

The talk here is about UI frameworks and application portability, not language portability. If you write an application using a portable language but using the wrong approach or frameworks, problems can arise when porting.

I think SavaJe went belly-up and Sun bought them (the technology) and it is been now developed further in various Sun mobile Java related projects.

You should ask more detailed questions in the forums of Mobile and Embedded community
