In a midlet I'm working on, I'm experiencing a 10 second or so delay on the getSnapshot() call. In a more simple midlet (from the MMAPI sample code), the call is much faster.

What can I do about this? The application I'm working on is much more complex (and has a higher memory usage) than the sample camera midlet. But this 10 second delay is a little much.

Any suggestions appreciated.

I think I've figured it out.

It seems if you call getSnapshot(), then change the Displayable before you stop the Player, this is the cause of the delay. (By the way, I grossly under estimated the cause of the delay -- it's more like 1+ minute).

As soon as I stopped the Player (player.stop()) before changing Displayables, the only delay is the regular delay you would expect and is comparable to the delay experienced with the sample Camera MIDlet.
