Hello,

I just downloaded the SNAP Mobile SDK v1.2 and read some of the documentation. It turns out SNAP uses HTTP to create a user account or to login. For J2ME the HTTP communication has been wrapped nicely into reusable classes. What about native C++ S60 applications ?

Could they use the SNAP Mobile environment ?
Is it possible to get documentation about the HTTP requests used ?
Is it allowed and possible to derive the HTTP protocol in use from tests using a J2ME application and the emulator ?
And then implement these HTTP requests in our own S60 DLL ?

Hi

- SnapMobile Protocol is not open :(
- There is a Symbian version I suppose, but not released to public. See GDC2006 presentation...
- It is not only an HTTP based protocol but it could be TCP or anything else.
The protocol isn't complex, but it is more about legal terms. That's why I stop my SM server clone...

A not so nice way is the create a background midlet, that communicate to a Symbian application using sockets...

Thanks for your information. Creating a MIDP app and let a Symbian app communicate with it through Sockets is not elegant, but maybe working. What GDC 2006 presentation are you referring to ?
