What are the possible reasons for getting this message during service discovery? The code actually works using emulators but the actual client device returns this response code, so I can't figure out what the problem is.

Hello,
The response code DiscoveryListener.SERVICE_SEARCH_NO_RECORDS generated by the the serviceSearchCompleted method indicates that no records were found during the service search. Try adding a record to the service record and then try searching for services.

Emulators behaves very differnet from the actual device(especially running these kind of BT applications). So dont come to a conclusion based on the emulators.

There are generally three reasons. The first is that no service records are found for the required service,ie your phone does not support protocol browing eg. Samsung LG E720 phone.
Your search mask for UID shows no service for UID and client (phone) needs only that service.
Finally the attribute mask on client is set up in such a way that protocol browing is not supported.

To be of more help you need to state language of Java,S60 C++ FP?.
Device searching PC running XP ? with J2se ? and bluecove?.
The model of phone with BT you use?

Hi
I am experiencing the same problem. I am using bluecove and bluecove-gpl as my server app is working on ubuntu.
The client app ( MIDP 2.0) runs on NOKIA-E51.

I have picked up the code given in NOKIA discussions namely PC Connectivity over Bluetooth in Java™ Applications

Please guide me through the problem
Thanks
