Hi it3.vaibhav! Welcome to Nokia Discussion Boards!! :)

To answer simply :No, you cannot do that. But all you can do is, you can update the current version of the phone software to a new version.
Please note that updating the phone software version does not change your Symbian OS version.

Gopal

An addition to Gopal's answer. For firmware update you need to take your device to a Nokia service center in your city/country.
You might have seen some posts about OTA firmware update or using your PC to update the firmware, that is available on few latest Nokia models only.

@nicenouman :: Please note that as me and Hartti suggested earlier, we can ofcourse update the operating system of the device with a newer version of the OS. This does not mean that we can change the Symbian OS version.

For eg: Nokia 6630 is a Symbian OS v8.0a device. You cannot change the Symbian OS version to Symbian OS v9.1 in a 6630. Insted, you can update the firmware version from V3.45.113 to V5.03.08.
(The firmware version numbers that I have provided might not be accurate.)

Hope this clarifies!

Gopal

One role for the firmware updates is providing bug fixes and other small changes.
