Is Nokia going to enable Python in a series other than Series 60? I would like to get a Python-enabled phone, but there is not one provider in Canada that offers a Series 60 model.

By an unlocked/SIM free S60 model and use a Canadian provider's SIM card in it.

In any case, Rogers seems to advertise 6682 and E62 on their web pages.

The E62 sucks, no Wifi, no 3G, etc etc.. I bought my E61 at a great price, unlocked and un-operator-branded, from Expansys.ca. It's a UK model imported, but they provide a outlet adapter for the charger.

Nokia made the stripped down E62 because they figured North American users didn't want to pay for all of the features of the E61, and because the network providers would not sell a subsided version of it with Wifi (they want the user to pay outrageous GPRS rates). Don't buy the stripped down E62 or you'll regret it. Having Wifi alone is well worth it, something I sorely missed on my old SE P900. Wifi on the E61 is fantastic. I can do everything I want, SSH, Web Browser, anything network-related for free over Wifi when I'm at home, in the office, at a client's, and at many many other places around town. GPRS/Edge works when you're in a jam, but is exorbitantly expensive, so you'de better not use it unless you really really really really have to.

These messages have nothing to do with software development. If they continue I will have to delete them. Please, this is a Developers forum not for end user products. there are other forums for that discussion.

I didn't intend to spark a consumer review of cell phones with my posting, however, I am wondering what plans Nokia has for Python. The API came out almost two years now. Is Nokia satisified with the response? Are they going to implement Python in other series?

It is hard for me to consider investing time into learning Python for Series 60 without knowing how long it will be supported.

Thanks

It is open source; you can continue with it for however long you wish, and also port it to where ever you wish, if Nokia doesn't do it.

I don't think Nokia is going to do anything except S60. And we've already established that there *ARE* also at least some S60 models available in Canada.
