S60 and Symbian Difference -

Hi,
I am new to this forum (and to mobile programming - I code for PCs though). I tried with python and am sucessful in writing "hello world". It may sound silly to you guys but can some body please tell me what are S60 and Symbian (I understand Symbian is an OS but what is S60  ?)Thanks in Advance

Symbian is the core OS with some "engines" for various things, but without an UI framework, applications, etc. S60 adds all that to make Symbian usable.
