Hi guys,

Does PyS60 have an infrared module? I'm planning to create a universal remote control using the CellPhone's built-in infrared port. I've been browsing the bundled documentation of PyS60 and so far I have not yet found one. I hope that you will consider this feature next time you release a new version or update of PyS60. Any comments or suggestion regarding this module is very much appreciated. If by any chance someone know how to access the infrared port of the cellphone via c/c++ extension please let me know. Thanks.

No, there currently isn't any built-in module for using infrared and I haven't seen any extensions for i either. This has been discussed before and the answer was always the same, sadly.

pys60usb module could be made to work with infrared with small modifications.( it should be pys60serial or something after that ). I did some initial work on this, but never got it tested or finished because I don't need IR. If anyone likes to try, it would be nice to include it in the PyS60Community edition

I might give it a try if I get some time over. However, wouldn't that only allow two way communication? I am looking for one way, like a TV remote controller

I don't understand what you mean by "only allow two way communication". You don't have to receive data, if you don't want to. Of course, I don't know much about IR communication.
