I am going to develop an application which requires to access the filesystem. I have tested on the capabilities by the PDAPDemo provided by WTK and observation to the directory system on S40 machines as 6233. I found that apart from those restricted directories and files like JAR files, one directory named "Received Files" are not able to browse by the program but the access of the folder in the phone is quite free, which I can move in and out files without problem.. Is it a directory restricted to read by J2ME?
Thanks for any kindness reply. |

Definetely you will jave restrictions posted on your application if it is accessing the internal file srucutre of the phone, unless you are not using trusted application/signed application to access phones internal file strucuture it will not allw you to do so.

Thanks for the reply.
But my test application is already self-signed, which I can work with the settings of "Always allowed" in the section "Application Access > Data Access" of "Read User Data" and "Add and edit data". I would like to know is that specific folder has some special properties that denies J2ME from accessing it? Or there is some paths to access but just the Demo cannot work with it? |

hey,
yes, i am saying the same u just cannot make it work with the deault signing process, u need to have ur application sgned with some certificate like thwat's. also some phones never aloow their folders to be manipulate, in that case u need to find alternate way. with regards, siva_guduru. |

hi siva_guduru,
thanks for the quick reply.. actually my certificate is a cert like what you mentioned, which is not the default certificate already.. my concern here is just that i would like to know the "Received File" folder is a special folder within the machine that we can do nothing on it.. just a confirmation here to see if there is any missing folders to be retrieved. is that what folder PDAPDemo can be retrieved already what JSR-75 can do, the rest of them is not included in the API? |

The directories, which the midlet is able to access vary a little bit from platform to platform. I do not think that you can access the received files directory on Series 40 devices
