tranparency in graphics -

hey!
this is my first time on these boards!  anyways, I am recently trying to create a new theme for both my N90 and N80, the thing is I'm having trouble making graphics that are semi-transparent. for example, when in the S60 Theme, in Section "Highlight -> Input Highlight", I would like to make my graphic semi-transparent to be able to see the background like in the examples, but I can't seem to be able to, I have tried using Photoshop in creating a semi-transparent graphic, but it still didn't work. can someone help me out? does it have to be a svg format? thanks! hope to get an answer soon! bye!
