Hi all,

I am using the plaformrequest on the S60 2nd editions phones to initiate a phone call. It works, but an annoying behavior is that the browser is always launched before the system try to start the call. Is this by design? Can it be avoided? Thanks in advance for all your input.

What are you using as a parameter in the platformRequest call?
What device are you talking about?

Hi Hartti,

I pass in "tel:+16045551234" to the platform request call. On the 6670 and 3230 both devices launches the browser first before making the call request. It works fine on the S40s (6270, 6111) and S60 3rd edition (N73, E61, N93) I have. So I suspect this is a S60 2nd edition thing? Thanks.

I do not remember seeing this kind of behavior described earlier (and there is no known issue on this either). The internal error databases did not have this problem reported for these two devices (2nd Edition FP1). I'll try to find a device and test this out. As these devices are quite old, this might not be verified any time soon.

Can you do one more thing and check the firmware versions for the devices you are using (type *#0000# in the idle screen)?

This issue has been verified on both S60 2nd Edition as well as S60 2nd Edition FP1 devices. The phone call is still made, but the browser is launched (on the background) first. After the pohone call the user has to close the browser too.

There is no workaround for this. Also we will create a known issue note on this.
